• The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod is beginning to actively address the abuse issue. The Synod adopted a Resolution at the triennial National Convention in July 2007 regarding abuse education and awareness. This Resolution requests that the Synod direct the Board for Human Care Ministries to appoint a committee to provide materials and trained individuals to assist districts, congregations, and schools in addressing abuse and ministering to the spiritual needs of those struggling with the effects of abuse. It also requests that the Synod make these same materials and training available to seminary and professional church worker students. The task force has been appointed and they conducted their first meeting in March, 2009.
  • The Lutheran Advocates for Safe Families, sponsored by the Lutheran Community Foundation, is working in partnership with FaithTrust Institute to develop an appropriate training curriculum for interested Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and LCMS congregations.
